Everyone is always teaching one what to do, leaving us still doing the things we shouldn't do.

The Alexander Technique and office work

Office work may not be an exciting subject, but a lot of us spend a lot of time in offices. After a day sitting at a desk using the computer and phone it's common to feel tired and aching.

Office worker and the Alexander Technique

To work in an office without backache, headache, Repetitive Strain Injury or undue fatigue you need to be able to maintain good use of yourself as you work. (This is a real challenge!)

We are largely unconscious of the habitual tensions in our movements which, working quietly and constantly, can cause us many problems. Even if we remember to (say) "relax the shoulders" - the phone rings and we lose it!

The Alexander Technique addresses directly both those habitual tensions in our movements and that losing ourselves when the phone rings.
